NOT (…) SPECIFICALLY (…) PLEASURE

March 29th, 2013, 7.30 pm

John Beeson lives in Berlin, writes art criticism, and recently started as the editor of Texte zur Kunst.

On Friday, March 29th – at castillo/corrales, he will NOT talk about the role of the critic today. He will talk with Benjamin Thorel very SPECIFICALLY about where he lives, what he writes about, and why he finds PLEASURE {delight, great pleasure, joyfulness, jubilation, triumph, exultation, rejoicing, happiness, gladness, glee, exhilaration, exuberance, elation, euphoria, bliss, ecstasy, rapture; enjoyment, felicity, joie de vivre, jouissance; literary jocundity. ANTONYMS misery} in that.

The evening will also include a presentation of PHOTOGRAPHY’S CONCERNS AND RETURNS, a book that John edited and published together with the artists Cameron Rowland and Daniel Herleth – a prototype for a book series tentatively titled THE NEW DOCUMENT.
